#1117 Babe Ruth

Price: $350.00

These extremely rare cast iron depictions of the "Sultan of Swat" (the only such version we have ever seen) have been attributed to the celebrated Hubley foundry, but they bear no markings to confirm this. The pair is circa 1920s and has only some traces of the original polychrome finish, lending an air of aging charm to this distinguished set. Dimensions:
4-1/4" w x 2-1/2" d x 8-1/2" h
Weight: 5-1/2 lbs.

Condition Comment:
No cracks, chips or dents but most original color has aged off, providing this set a true vintage appearance. Felt on bases replaced.

#1118 Orchestra Instruments

Three exquisitely sculpted and wonderfully detailed orchestra instruments – violin, trumpet and French horn -- adorn these most rare and gracefully formed bronze pieces. Believed to be circa 1920s, there are no identifying foundry markings on either one. Each has a richly subdued bronze patina. Dimensions:

#1124 Reclining Dog

These two handsome Irish Setters are posed in a stately reclining position and have been composed in an unusual, but most desirable manner: when configured as they were meant to be as bookends, the pair will be seen in three-quarter view, not in profile, as most figural bookends are. This striking bronze-copper set from the Saxton Company of California is circa 1930s. Its color is absolutely perfect for the Irish Setter breed. The original foundry label still is affixed to the base of each. Dimensions:

In one of the many variations on the art deco nude dancer theme, this copper-coated cast iron pair features a woman moving in synch with a delicately billowed sash. Although unmarked, its style, design and construction led credence to the belief that it was produced by the "X-2" foundry, circa 1925. Dimensions:

#1141 Beethoven Bust

The power and majesty of Beethoven’s genius is immediately apparent in this heroic, sculptural treatment from the renowned Bradley & Hubbard foundry, circa 1926. Each of the two very substantial pieces in bronze –coated cast iron, is superbly detailed, from the facial expression to the background frieze, and bears the B&H hallmark on the rear.
